Welcome to the Fight: Navigating frustration with God when we feel Purposeless

What does it mean for you to fight?

We have all been in a place where we feel like life isn't just what we expected it to be. This place can be painful, and as you could imagine, we never want to choose to be there! But before you can navigate any frustration you might have with your life, you have to be able to understand three things:

  1. What is your current situation?

  2. What is frustrating you about it?

  3. Where do you want to take it?

Answering these three questions becomes the first step in doing something about your frustration. Not answering them will keep you in the loop you have been dreading all this time, and that's not what we are about here. We want change! So we show up to the fight for our life.

The first step in fighting is showing up, it means being present, and being willing to do the work necessary to overcome what is limiting you.

Showing up and answering the tough questions.

The questions above can be difficult to answer, it isn't due to the substance of the question but really it is because of the manner in which we have to approach it. You might have an idea of what it is, but here, I am going to tell you, and this will give you some insight into why you sometimes struggle with creating lasting change in your life.

The need to slow down

American culture struggles with slowing down. We tie purpose to how fast we can accomplish, how much we can accomplish, and even how much we can accomplish in a fast way!

Answering questions about our inner struggle requires exploring AND feeling purposesless is a huge deal! And in our culture we live in a perpetual state of red light and green light, with little time to slow down and do things like pray.

So we have a hope that life will get better, we want to improve, we want to live in purpose but we have this huge problem standing in our way...

Living a life that feels like it has NO purpose is terrible and yet, you will find so many people going through the motions of life, fighting an internal struggle with the "battle axe" of "hoping that things will get better"...

But there is more that is available to you... Beyond slowing down we have the ultimate form of help available to us to step into purpose.

We have power and authority in Jesus

Power needs to be used

“One day Jesus called together his twelve disciples and gave them power and authority to cast out all demons and to heal all diseases.” Luke‬ ‭9:1‬ ‭NLT‬‬

LATER ON: “Jesus said, “You faithless and corrupt people! How long must I be with you and put up with you?” Then he said to the man, “Bring your son here.”” Luke‬ ‭9:41‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Why did Jesus respond this way. Because they were given power and authority and did not use it. So they were faithless and corrupt. Lord do not let us be this way.

Why would Jesus warn that He can no longer be with them if the Holy Spirit was coming and He is better?

The main difference was that He would not be there to complete the work for the disciples when they missed the mark. They needed to walk in the capacity He had already given them to walk in.

They had power and authority even though the Holy Spirit did not fall on them yet, and yet they were still held to a standard of having faith and exercising authority effectively.

The Holy Spirit is our helper and you are the vessel.

God isn’t going to do this for you.

You have to exercise faith and walk in authority. You have to show up to the fight.

The Holy Spirit is always going to provide the type of help that you need, so what are you focusing on?

If you are stressed He will comfort you.

If you are lost He will lead you.

If you are confused He will teach you.

If you are walking in faith He will anoint you.

If you walk in authority He will uphold His word in you.

Do you want to be stuck always asking for the simple forms of help, or do you want the help that will make you bring heaven down on earth?

Ask God for the help that you need, and don't wait another day for it.
